vivi mae vintage . . .

Although I was a real tomboy growing up, preferring climbing trees to playing dolls, I did have a girlie side . . . I could never resist the lure of the strands of pearls and shimmering rhinestone brooches spilling out of the jewelry box on my mother's vanity.  Surrounded by mirrors and backlit by two beautiful vanity lamps with long dangling crystals, the setting could not have been more perfect.  The crystals looked like jewels themselves and when they caught the light made beautiful rainbows all around the room.  The effect was magical and I was hooked.

My passion for jewelry has stayed with me all these years and my eyes are constantly on the lookout for unique finds in the flea markets and antique shops I have encountered on my travels.  One day a friend of mine suggested that I could combine my love for vintage finds with my passion for jewelry by designing and creating one-of-a-kind pieces out of all my unique treasures.  So I decided to put my idea to the test and made a small collection to present to four of my most savvy critics, my daughter and one of my best friends and her two daughters, on our up-coming trip to Savannah.  Upon arrival I went straight to the guest bedroom and laid out my treasures.  Excited and a little bit nervous, I called my judges into the room.  At first they were speechless as they looked over the pieces and for a minute I began to worry, but then as I looked at their expressions I could tell they liked what they saw and soon the room was abuzz with exclamations as they took turns trying on the collection.  That weekend Vivi Mae Vintage was born.
